Royale Dancehall Flamingos is an ambitious community dance project transforming older dancers into a touring company delivering quality work across festivals, events and public spaces. PC*DC create a celebratory, joyful dance piece drawing on Jamaican dancehall and contemporary choreographic techniques, along with a toolkit of workshops and games to engage with older diverse communities across a tour. The project will bring joy, social connection, and cultural and emotional wellbeing to a huge number of participants.

This was my first R&D role for a theatre company. I was buying personal props for the performers. This was to assist in devising the piece that Tangled Feet were working on.

"The Burnt City" - Set Dresser

While set dressing for Punchdrunk, I learnt the value of working thoroughly while working to a deadline. We worked to daily deadlines on our tasks, which meant that we had to work efficiency. Whether that’s breaking down crates and barrels to add to the atmosphere of a post-apocalyptic landscape, making props or putting up hundreds of posters, we would work quickly and to a high standard.

"The Burnt City" - Prop buyer

As the production buyer for this immersive theatre production, I was sourcing personal/action props and items for set dressing. Since there was a high level of realism to this production it required an eye for detail and willingness to thoroughly research the props for certain scenes and characters.

 I have gained experience with editing, carting and ingesting promos to be broadcast on TV internationally (Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland and Iceland). I have also been editing and carting content that will be advertised on social media too. Developing my knowledge of post-production processes and workflows.

 I was an art department assistant on a Punjabi feature film. My role included sourcing and buying props and items for set dressing, and set decorating and prop resets during filming. I had to be attentive and proactive. Preparing sets and props in advance and anticipating where assistance would be needed on the day.

 

Aspex Gallery  - PONToon Project Assistant

As a PONToon Project Assistant at Aspex Gallery, I worked collaboratively with the PONToon Team to produce and manage an online exhibition affiliated with The European Commission. The exhibition used a range of technologies such as games development, 3D/virtual reality, social media and web/mobile apps to engage support and up-skill people, who identify as women. My role was to research, generate and edit content that conveys that message both for the online exhibition and social media.

I have been assisting at events throughout the UAL campuses and London. My roles have included art handling, ushering, catering, selling merchandise and setting up stalls. I have even had the opportunity to work an event at the House of Lords.

“Quarantaine” by Georgina Starr- Prop maker and Runner

I was producing props for the set of Georgina Starr’s latest short film. This required a keen eye for detail as I was working with fragile materials. In addition, I was a runner for the production and assisted with the set building.

My role was to transcribe interviews about masculinity from various inspiration men from London. I was part of the post-production team of Manual’s most recent advertising campaign.

“The Circle” - Transcriber and Production Assistant

My role was to transcribe the core interviews that inspired and feature in this film. I then had the opportunity to  assist the production team on set. Writing onto the clapperboards, taking notes about each shot, assisting with setting up and packing down the set.
