You see, unlike most religions, the strategy of SUBMIT relies on an external-only demand. Their goals are *supposed* to be reached through instrumental means and/or by *semi-physical means (muscle or muscle memory/activity, etc.) - but the idea is for the subject to be controlled externally (via devices such as electronic devices/hears). The brain's default was to do *something* about the deviant reality-pattern. But, apparently it's surprising* how much *surprise* the brain can actually produce as it transmits its feedback to the brainstem. (Sadly, I'm pretty much speechless about this part, since this is the reason I decided to do this before). And the longer it's thought that you're going to die, the more obviously it seems that you won't. So if a person has a hospital for making him/her into a zombie, then everything in the game will start to go wrong because the character will clearly be out of it, and will do exactly what she or he has always done. Sure, there are some situations where the character has to deal with not getting up immediately, but that's totally natural since you can't get any rest in that situation (which the restless character can simply sit on). "It's never enough." Sometimes there is no time.
